The Oakton Community College Educational Foundation is hoping to raise $50,000 at a fundraiser beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Rivers Casino, 3000 S. River Road in Des Plaines. The first Scholar Chips event last year attracted more than 300 people and raised more than $28,000 for scholarships, and sponsors are hoping to build on that this year, said Elena Couto, Oakton's manager of development and alumni relations. A limited number of tickets are still available for $65 by calling (847) 635-1893. Entertainer Rex Tuley, a resident of the Northwest suburbs, will provide more than two hours of lively entertainment filled with renditions of songs by crooners including the Rat Pack's Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. The event also include hors d'oeuvres, dinner buffet and an open bar.
