Families invited to meet candidates

Families are invited to a Cookout with the Candidates from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at Lions Park in Elburn, sponsored by the Western Kane County Republican Organization.

Local, state and national Republican candidates who will appear on the Western Townships ballots have been invited to attend and to speak.

The keynote speaker, Tim Schneider, chairman of the Illinois Republican Party, will discuss "What's at Stake for the November Election."

The menu features hamburgers, hot dogs and brats from Elburn's World Famous Ream's Meat Market, as well as grilled chicken, sides and dessert.

Family activities include a bounce house, photo booth, bean bags, and silent auction. playground equipment also is available.

Tickets are $20 per individual or $60 per family.

Lions Park is located at 500 Filmore St., just off Route 47 in Elburn.

The Western Kane County Republican Organization covers nine townships and represents more than 45,000 voters.

The townships include Big Rock, Blackberry, Burlington, Hampshire, Kaneville, Plato, Rutland, Sugar Grove and Virgil. Within those boundaries are Elburn, Maple Park, Gilberts, the Mill Creek subdivision, and portions of Batavia, Geneva, Montgomery, North Aurora, Aurora, St. Charles, Huntley and Elgin.
