Chicago judge sets $450,000 bond for Texas man

A Cook County judge has set bond at $450,000 for a Texas man who police say tried to run over an officer during an arrest attempt.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports Ricardo Castro-Beltran was charged Sunday with felony aggravated assault with a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident. The 24-year-old from Houston is recovering in a hospital with four gunshot wounds from the incident.

Prosecutors say he's a flight risk and requested the high bond.

Police say they were called to the Logan Square area Friday because he appeared to be using drugs in an SUV. They say he refused officers' commands to leave the vehicle and he accelerated toward them. Officers fired at him before using a stun gun.

It wasn't immediately clear if he has an attorney.
