Lake Zurich police have an Illinois Department of Transportation grant to launch a five-hour roadside safety check that'll end at 4 a.m. Aug. 16. Officials said the checks will occur near routes 12 and 22. The special checks will be part of a bigger traffic safety crackdown from Aug. 15 to 23. The focus will be on enforcing violations with occupant restraints, state licensing requirements and driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
