Construction to Begin on Library Parking Lot

Phase One of the parking lot construction at the Schaumburg Township District Library (STDL), 130 S. Roselle Rd., will begin Monday on the south side of the library. Work on the north and west sides will take place during Phase Two.

Since the parking lot will be completely torn out and replaced, construction is expected to last approximately three weeks. During that time, library visitors may park in areas that are not closed off, or in the Dominick's parking lot. The Drive-up Window and book drop will be closed while work is underway. Library visitors will have to enter the building to return books and conduct other library-related business. Handicapped accessible parking spots will be maintained for the duration of the project. When the south lot is under construction, temporary spots will be created on the north perimeter of the building.

"The parking lot project will provide a much safer experience for cars and people," said STDL's Executive Director Stephanie Sarnoff. "Potholes and puddles will be eliminated. We will have the same number of parking spots, but the entire lot will be restriped. The benefits will far outweigh the temporary inconvenience."

Arrow Paving Company will begin fencing off designated construction areas on Monday, with construction commencing on Tuesday. Signs will be posted to direct library traffic to available parking areas, including the Dominick's lot.
