Mt. Prospect promotes Peterson to lieutenant, hires new fireman
The Mount Prospect Fire Department celebrated as Brad Peterson was sworn in as lieutenant and firefighter Kevin Fiedler joined the department on Aug. 4.
Board of Fire and Police Commissioner James Powers administered the oath of office to Peterson and Fiedler in front of their family, friends and fellow firefighters.
Peterson has been a member of the Mount Prospect Fire Department since 2001. He has been a member of many organizations including the training and labor/management committees, union executive board and the Dive Team. He is also chairmen of the Foreign Fire Tax Board and holds an associate degree in fire science.
As lieutenant, Peterson will be responsible for performing skilled firefighting work by supervising the activities of a fire company at an assigned station and at the scene of a fire or other incident. He will also perform related work as directed by the battalion chief.
"Lieutenant Peterson's experience and knowledge of the fire department will provide for an easy transition and I look forward to working with him in his new role," said Fire Chief John Malcolm.
Fiedler came to the department as a certified firefighter/paramedic with experience through McHenry Fire Protection District and Lake Villa. He holds a bachelor's degree in business marketing. During the ceremony, Fiedler received Mount Prospect badge number 160, which was pinned on by his wife.
"We are very fortunate to have tremendous talent in the department," said Malcolm.
