Randall Oaks library in West Dundee extends hours

The Randall Oaks Branch Library, 500 N. Randall Road, West Dundee, will be open 60 hours per week starting on Monday Aug. 11.

The new hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The library is closed on Sundays.

The district will celebrate the new hours with an open house at the branch from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, with games, prizes and refreshments.

"Increasing hours at our Randall Oaks Branch Library was the largest single improvement desired by our residents in last fall's survey," said Roxane Bennett, library director. "Knowing that, the board passed a budget that allowed us to increase the hours from 40 per week to 60," she continued. "This is just one of several improvements that we're working on. We're putting the finishing touches on our strategic plan right now. We used input from the survey and from meetings with community members as the starting point for the plan, which will move us forward for the next three years. We're looking forward to some exciting changes."

The Fox River Valley Public Library District serves 70,000 residents of Carpentersville, East Dundee, West Dundee, Sleepy Hollow, Gilberts, and parts of Algonquin.
