AquaSprites to present annual water show Aug. 8

The AquaSprites Synchronized Swim Team presents its annual water show, "It's A Celebration," at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at Lattof YMCA, 300 E. Northwest Hwy., in Des Plaines.

"It's a Celebration" looks at the evolution of synchronized swimming from ancient times to the Olympics, emphasizing the role the Chicago area played in the early growth of synchronized swimming developing as a sport within the AAU, the establishment of U.S. Synchronized Swimming and inclusion in the Olympic Games.

Performance begins at 7:30 p.m., with basic sculls and strokes by the Novice Team and advances to difficult lifts, throws and platforms by Age Group and Master Athletes.

Tickets will be available at the door beginning at 7 p.m.

Ticket prices are $7 for adults; $5 for seniors; $5 for children age 6 through high school; and free for kids ages 5 and younger.
