Elgin

• Antonio O. Neal Jr., 25, of the 400 block of Prospect Street, Elgin, was charged Tuesday with retail theft, according to court records. While at Wal-Mart, 1100 S. Randall Road, Elgin, he put two air mattresses into a cart and purchased one of them, police said. After bringing the purchased air mattress to his car, Neal went back into the store and returned the air mattress he didn't purchase at the store's customer service desk, where he was refunded $75.74. He was previously convicted of a theft-related offense in June. Neal's bail was set at $35,000 in Kane County bond court, and his next court date is Aug. 15.

Kane County

• Anthony J. Kreiger, 22, of the 35W300 block of Country School Road, West Dundee, was charged with felony criminal damage to property and domestic battery at 5:30 p.m. Sunday on the 14N200 block of Route 47 near Hampshire, according to a sheriff's report. Kreiger is accused of arguing with companions he was leaving with on a fishing trip and grabbing a steering wheel of a vehicle towing a boat, causing the vehicle to swerve and the boat to fall off a trailer. He was also accused of fighting with another man.
