Illinois authorities investigate 3 arson cases

O'FALLON, Ill. - State and local authorities are investigating three recent cases of arson in Illinois.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports the O'Fallon Police Department is offering a $1,000 reward for information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible. The department and the State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating three arsons that happened at occupied homes in July and August.

Detective William Barlock says no one was injured in any of the fires and the flames went out on their own.

The first arson occurred on July 17 and the second and third were on Aug. 3.

Police say an accelerant was used to ignite the vinyl siding of the residences at night in each case.
