Bank of America location to close in Elgin

The Bank of America branch on Big Timber Road in Elgin is closing in November.

Customers were mailed a letter Aug. 1, per the bank's policy of notifying people 90 days before closures, said Diane J. Wagner, Bank of America's senior vice president of media relations.

The location at 2000 Big Timber Road is scheduled to close Nov. 14, Wagner said.

"It's nothing out of the ordinary," she said. "We periodically look at our networks and where we've got coverage for banking locations. In terms of traffic patterns, we're not seeing a large number of people transacting there."

The closest Bank of America location is about four miles away at 635 S. Randall Road in Elgin. Another one is at 315 N. 8th St. in West Dundee.

All employees of the Big Timber branch will be reassigned to nearby bank locations or other positions within Bank of America, she said.

The Big Timber location opened in April 2001, while the Randall Road location opened in 2006, Wagner said. The bank leases both sites.
