One dead in shooting outside nightclub
Chicago authorities say one man is dead and another wounded after a shooting outside a nightclub on the Near North Side.
Police say officers on patrol heard gunshots around 4 a.m. Sunday. One man fled the scene, and officers failed to stop him. An officer fired his gun but didn't hit the man.
The body of one man was found in an alley with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The Cook County medical examiner says he was declared dead at the scene.
Another man was shot in the chest. Authorities say he remains in serious condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Further details about what prompted the shooting near the club weren't released.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that rapper Nas was scheduled to be at the club, called Bodi, following his Saturday Lollapalooza performance.
