Boomers' win streak hits 8

The Schaumburg Boomers extended a franchise record winning streak to eight by rallying to a 5-3 road win over the Traverse City Beach Bums on Thursday.

Starter Seth Webster spotted Traverse City a 3-0 lead in the first but Webster did not allow another run the rest of the way, striking out 4 to earn his fifth win. The Boomers clawed within 3-2 by scoring twice in the second. Gerard Hall knocked home the first run on a fielder's choice before an RBI double from Michael Valadez. Joe De Pinto nailed his second homer leading off the third to tie the game. Tony Delmonico homered to begin the sixth, handing the Boomers a 4-3 lead. Jordan Dean added insurance with an RBI single later in the frame.

Dexter Price tallied his second save in as many days by closing the door in the ninth for his 16th of the season. Schaumburg slashed 14 hits in the game with eight individuals posting at least one. Dean notched three.

Schaumburg (39-26), now all alone in second place in the West, looks to sweep the season series on Friday night with another 6:05 p.m. contest. LHP Hunter Ackerman (3-1, 4.31) takes the ball for the Boomers against LHP Alex Phillips (1-6, 3.74).
