Construction and renovation work is well underway on the First Baptist Church of Geneva's "Growing to Serve" ministry expansion project at both the east and west campuses.

" 'Growing to Serve' will play a major role in helping us achieve our mission to reach, connect, equip and serve others for Jesus Christ," Rev. Brian Coffey said. "The project will enable us to build on First Baptist Church of Geneva's 120-year history of meeting the spiritual and support the needs of the congregation, the community and those in need around the world."

Both campuses will be enhancing children's and youth ministries.

The east campus, at 2300 South St., includes work in the worship area such as a new platform and lighting, a new food pantry, improvements to classrooms and meeting spaces, an expansion of the lobby, renovations to staff offices, and a new canopy over the main entrance and driveway.

The west campus, at 3435 Keslinger Road, is expanding the main level to the north of the building, adding classrooms and meeting spaces, and creating a new space for the Masterpiece Ministry for children with special needs.

Work is scheduled to be completed in September at east campus, and late fall at west campus. A second phase of construction at west campus will follow.
