Moms, daughters compete in McHenry fair look-alike contest

Never was a mother's love for her daughter more evident than Thursday night at the McHenry County Fair when 20 mom/daughter teams crowded the Hansen Pavilion stage for the Look-Alike contest. The top three duos won cash prizes.

Before the judging began, Heidi Vanderstappen of Hebron held her four-year-old daughter Teagan, who had her hair in a bun on top of her head that exactly matched her mother's.

"We do that often," Heidi said. "She likes it."

Although the pair didn't win, it was time well spent, Heidi said. "We had a lot of fun," she said, as Teagan played in the dirt afterward.

The fair runs through Sunday in Woodstock, with events including a celebrity look-alike contest Saturday and demolition derby Sunday. Visit mchenrycountyfair.com.
