Boomers rally for 7th straight win
TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. - The Schaumburg Boomers established a franchise record Wednesday night by claiming a seventh consecutive victory, rallying past the Traverse City Beach Bums 12-9.
Schaumburg rallied from three different deficits to collect the win. The Boomers trailed 1-0, 3-2, and 7-4 in the game before a 6-run fifth gave the Boomers the lead for good.
Alexi Colon opened the inning with a double, the first of 6 straight hits. The first seven batters reached base. Ty Nelson tied the game with an RBI single, and Tony Delmonico doubled down the line in left for the lead.
Danny Jimenez settled in following a 4-run fourth, retiring the final 10 batters he faced. Jimenez worked 7 innings and struck out eight for his sixth win. Dexter Price worked the ninth for his 15th save.
The Boomers collected 16 hits from eight different individuals, including a season-high 5 doubles. Eight individuals scored a run and seven had an RBI. Joe De Pinto and Ty Nelson each had 3 hits.
Schaumburg (38-26) will look to continue the streak Thursday in a 6:05 p.m. contest. RHP Seth Webster (4-2, 2.90) takes the ball for the Boomers against RHP Tanner Tripp (1-5, 4.59).
