The Hat Guys wrap up Geneva's Concert in the Park series

Families and friends gathered on blankets and lawn chairs on a beautiful summer night at Island Park in Geneva Wednesday night for the final performance in the Geneva Park District's Concert in the Park series.

The Hat Guys, a band composed of seven members, performed popular, energetic songs ranging from the 60s to present day in a 90-minute set. It wasn't long before couples and kids took to the grass dance floor.

Band members Marty Murphy and James Cashman, known as the "instigator" and "orchestrator" respectively, wandered through the crowd taking photos and making sure the crowd enjoyed themselves. At one point, a conga line formed - led by Murphy - and the audience danced their way onto the stage to join in on a few songs.

Elaine and Ed Johnson of Geneva were among the crowd and have been coming to the series for several years. When asked what keeps them coming back for the July series, Elaine replied with a smile and a chuckle: "The music's great, fresh air, and it's free."
