North Shore Rhythmics has two national champions, Coach of the Year

North Shore Rhythmics gymnasts Laura Zeng of Libertyville and Jazzy Kerber of Highland Park became the 2014 junior and senior national champions in mid-July at the National Championships in Louisville, Kentucky.

Laura also won the junior hoop and ball gold medals, and Jazzy won the senior clubs medal and received the USA Gymnastics award for rhythmic gymnastics athlete of the year.

NSR gymnast Camilla Feeley finished second all-around in the junior competition and won the junior clubs medal. NSR juniors Natalie Bourand and Dasha Baltovick qualified for the all-around finals in the junior competition.

Juniors Karrine Denisova and Alexandra Ladan and senior Molly Isley competed at the championships as well.

The USA senior national group, Kiana Eide, Alissa Kano, Natalie McGiffert, Jenny Rokhman, Monica Rokhman, and Kristen Shaldybin, performed three exhibitions.

USA Gymnastics named NSR coach Natasha Klimouk "Coach of the Year," but she was quick to say the award belongs to all the NSR coaches: Irina Korosteleva (who joined her for the award ceremony at the Yum Center), Dani Takova and Angelina Yovcheva.

Klimouk added, "We are extremely proud of the entire team for doing their absolute best. Congratulations to everyone."
