Niles man arrested on fifth DUI charge
A Niles man with four previous DUI violations was arrested on charges of a fifth this weekend, authorities said.
Cook County Judge Jill Cerone Marisie ordered Marvin Martinez-Guerrero, 31, held on $200,000 bond Monday following his arrest early Sunday in Mount Prospect.
Martinez-Guerrero was driving south on Busse Road near Crystal Lane at 12:27 a.m. Sunday when police arrested him for traffic violations, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney David Shin.
Martinez-Guerrero, of the 8500 block of Roseview, had no valid driver's license, slurred his words and had an odor of alcohol at the time of his arrest, Shin said.
Shin said Martinez-Guerrero failed field sobriety tests and his breath test registered a blood alcohol content of .19.
Martinez-Guerrero faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted. He was on probation for a 2012 DUI at the time of his arrest, Shin said, and next appears in court on Aug. 18.
