Des Plaines man sentenced to prison for exposing himself

A 26-year-old Des Plaines man and registered sex offender who was on probation for exposing himself to children in April 2013 pleaded guilty Monday to sexual exploitation of a child.

In exchange for his guilty plea to the class 4 felony, Austin Hamilton was sentenced to one year in prison, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Kristin Piper.

In the most recent case, prosecutors say Hamilton exposed himself to children several times between August 2013 and May 2014. The first two times, the children told their parents but Hamilton fled before the children could identify him, prosecutors said. On May 26, Hamilton approached them a third time, and one of the children was able to identify him as he fled on a bicycle, prosecutors said. Mount Prospect police subsequently arrested Hamilton, who was identified by one of the victims, according to authorities.

Hamilton received credit for 64 days in custody. He must complete at least 50 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
