Lake Zurich Middle School North principal leaves for Glenview

Mark Richter is moving on after 11 years at Lake Zurich Middle School North.

Lake Zurich Unit District 95 Superintendent Michael Egan addressed Richter's tenure at the middle school after his hiring was announced Monday by Glenview Public School District 34. Richter, who was Middle School North's principal for five years, is leaving for a similar job in Glenview.

"Mark has made positive contributions to our learning community in all of his roles," Egan said in a statement. "He has embraced and modeled the district's mission throughout the years and has been a great part of the administrative team. He will be greatly missed."

District 34 announced Richter will replace Jim Woell as principal of Attea Middle School in Glenview for the 2014-15 academic season. Richter, whose hiring recently received the Glenview school board's approval, topped 47 applicants for the Attea job.

District 34 lauded Richter for being student centered, focused on individual growth and having experience in a variety of roles.

He came to District 95 in 2003 as a Middle School North teacher. He moved up to assistant principal for three years before landing in the school's top administrative post.

Richter was a teacher and learning team leader for five years at Waukegan High School before he landed in Lake Zurich. His last day at Middle School North is Thursday.

Middle School North Assistant Principal Todd Jakowitsch will start as interim principal at Middle School North, effective Friday, according to District 95 officials.
