Suicide prevention fundraiser walk in Waukegan

The second annual "Waukegan Cares Walk for Awareness" 5K event fundraiser for the Lake County Suicide Prevention Task Force will be held Saturday, Aug. 9. Check-in time is 10:30 a.m. at the People's Choice Family Fun Center, 2411 Grand Ave., Waukegan. Walkers begin at 11 a.m. Registration for the 5K fundraiser is $25 and includes an T-shirt and a free lunch. Call Tom Granger (847) 417-2495 for information. A festival associated with the walk will have a police dunk tank, moon walk and wellness screening. A police K-9 demonstration will be held at 12:30 p.m. The Lake County Suicide Prevention Task Force strives to deepen awareness, prevent suicide and save lives through education, links to resources, and treatment within the community.
