Streamwood officials and state lawmakers will honor five women for their contributions to the village's historical society and the Hoosier Grove Museum. Wanda Hise, Carol Ferguson, Lois Venzke, Phyllis Breese and Linda Zimmerman are the honorees at a gathering at 2 p.m. Aug. 3, in Hoosier Grove Park, 700 W. Irving Park Road. Zimmerman has been a docent and museum educator at the 110-year-old schoolhouse at Hoosier Grove for 20 years. The other four women volunteer for the historical society. Park District Commissioner Rich Janiec is organizing the public event and will act as emcee. State Sen. Mike Noland and state Rep. Fred Crespo are slated to attend.
