Veterans pig roast at Long Grove tavern

The Village Tavern in Long Grove is hosting its second annual Booze, Brews & Blues and fifth annual Veterans Pig Roast this weekend.

The outdoor Illinois Booze, Brews & Blues event will run from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at 135 Old McHenry Road in downtown Long Grove.

It will feature selections from Illinois Spirit Distilleries and two Long Grove brewers: Emmett's Brewing Co. and Spiteful Brewing, with samples of more than 30 selections of spirits and beer available from 1-5 p.m.

Guests can purchase a beverage tasting ticket for $20 for 12 spirit and beer samples. The Rockin' Johnny Blues Band will play from 4-7 p.m.

Timothy Burns, a military veteran, Long Grove resident, frequenter of the tavern and owner of Emmett's Brewing will be present.

Burns is also a donor and supporter of the Veterans Pig Roast & Concert, which is being held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 27. The event costs $12, but is free for active military and veterans.

The event includes an outdoor pig roast, craft beer tastings, raffle prizes, giant beer pong and baggo tournaments. New Odyssey will take the stage from 5-8 p.m.
