Truck crossed center line in fatal Pingree Grove crash, cops say

Pingree Grove police say that it was the driver of a pickup truck who caused the July 17 crash in which he was killed.

Ian Halasik, 20, of Pingree Grove, was driving a Ford F150 truck east on Route 20 at 12:15 a.m., when it crossed the centerline in to oncoming traffic, police said.

Halasik hit a Ford E250 van head-on, according to a news release from police. Halasik was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, where he died of his injuries.

The driver of the van, 67-year-old Raymond Sherrod of Ohio, remains in Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Police ask anyone who has information about the crash to call (847) 464-4600.
