The Wheaton Municipal Band Takes a World Tour

The Wheaton Municipal Band teams up with The Wheaton Community Relations Commission to host a Wheaton World Tour event on Thursday, July 24 at 8:00 p.m. in Memorial Park in downtown Wheaton. Maestro Dr. Bruce Moss returns to the podium to conduct the world tour band concert. But the fun begins at 6:00 p.m. with music from around the world, dance, song, poetry, arts and crafts and ethnic food trucks, which culminates with the Wheaton Municipal Band Concert. This marks the second year of Wheaton's celebration of diversity.

This week the Band travels the world through music. Dr. Bruce Moss leads the way with American Overture for Band by Jenkins. Then off to Europe with Fucik's Florentiner March, Suspiros de Espana by Alvarez and an excerpt from The Amersterdam Suite by Curtis. Of course, more music follows that is sure to please every palate. Latin grooves, Gypsy modes and Cajun syncopation will keep toes tapping.

The featured Wheaton Municipal Band soloists include: Devin Starr on the clarinet playing The Concert Fantasia by Verdi and a quartet, Barb Holland, Brandon Sheppard, Emily Fegan and Nancy O'Neil performing Dialog for Four by Van Hamm.

This concert offers a rare opportunity for the City of Wheaton to come together and celebrate the rich diverse cultures right in their own backyard.
