Arizona man charged with killing half-brother in Western Illinois

Associated Press

PETERSBURG - An Arizona man is charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of his half-brother in western Illinois.

The Quincy Herald-Whig reports that 28-year-old Joseph M. Coffman of Fort McDowell, Arizona, was charged on Monday in the death of 47-year-old Dennis S. Coffman of Petersburg. Pike County State's Attorney Matt Goetten says Dennis Coffman was stabbed multiple times with a knife on Saturday.

Joseph Coffman is held in the Pike County jail and is due in court on Tuesday. He does not have a listed phone number in Fort McDowell.

Pike County officials say they received a call early Saturday reporting a stabbing inside a vehicle on Interstate 72. Pike County Sheriff Paul Petty says authorities think the stabbing happened while the vehicle was traveling from Missouri to Illinois.
