• Charges are not evidence of guilt. Under law, individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.


• Roger G. Anderson, 67, of Juniper Lane, Deer Park, was arrested June 30 on the 500 block of North Avenue and charged with transmission of obscene messages and harassment by telephone. His court date is July 14.

• Kenneth C. Weidner, 25, of Dryden Place, Arlington Heights, was arrested July 4 at 760 W. Main St. and charged with possession of marijuana, DUI, and traffic violations. His court date is Aug. 15.

• Leroy P. Wisniewski, 43, of Natwick Lane, Schaumburg, was arrested July 5 on the 100 block of West Station Street and charged with battery. His court date is Aug. 11.

• Thieves stole lawn furniture July 1 out of a front porch at a home on the 100 block of Fox Hunt Trail. Thieves stole large flower planters out of a front porch on the 300 block of Fox Hunt Trail.

• Thieves stole a long board July 3 at Family Fest, 201 Spring St.

• Thieves stole two bicycles July 6 from a bike rack at Hough Street School, 310 S. Hough St.


• Brian K. Long, 23, of the 9100 block of North Lincoln Avenue, Des Plaines, was arrested around 2 p.m. July 8 at Walmart, 1555 N. Rand Road, and charged with local ordinance retail theft. Police reports said a security agent saw him hide a scope, laser and flashlight in his pants. The items are accessories for an air soft gun.

• Vandals scratched the front driver's-side door and rear passenger's-side door and flattened three tires between 3 p.m. July 6 and 8:10 a.m. July 8 on a 2005 Saturn on the 1900 block of North Cambridge Court.

• Burglars broke into a 2003 GMC van between midnight and 7 a.m. July 3 on the 400 block of Plum Grove Road and stole several power tools including a saw, right angle drill, screw gun and acetylene torch.

• Burglars forced open the front door around 12:45 p.m. July 2 at a home on the 1300 block of North St. Marks Place. The burglar alarm sounded but nothing appeared to be missing.

• Burglars entered an apartment between 11:30 p.m. June 29 and 4:45 a.m. June 30 through an unlocked sliding patio door and stole a handbag, leather work bag, purse, leather wallet with ID and credit cards and cash. Value was estimated at $500.

• Burglars climbed through an unlocked bedroom window between 9 a.m. July 4 and 9:20 p.m. July 5 into an apartment on the 2300 block of North Bayside Drive and stole two laptop computers, iPad, camera and white gold necklace.

• Burglars broke into a 1998 work van between 6 p.m. June 16 and 5:30 a.m. June 17 on the 1400 block of North Winslowe Drive and stole five roofing nail guns, an electric compressor, gas leaf blower and drill.

• Burglars stole three prescription drugs and $3 between 12:15 and 6 a.m. June 22 out of an unlocked Hyundai SUV in a parking lot on the 0-100 block of Renaissance Place.

• Burglars stole a yellow electric-start motorized bike between midnight and 9:05 a.m. June 22 out of an unlocked shed at a home on the 1300 block of West Deer Court.

• Burglars stole a suitcase, wallet and jewelry between 9 p.m. June 24 and 7 a.m. June 25 out of a vehicle on the 100 block of West Hamilton Drive.

• Burglars climbed through a basement window between 8:10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. June 24 at a home on the 300 block of South Harrison Court and stole various jewelry pieces out of the master bedroom.

• Burglars entered a home through an unlocked sliding patio door between 12:30 and 10:45 a.m. June 29 at a home on the 900 block of East Wilmette Drive and stole cash and a pair of sunglasses.
