Des Plaines

• Thieves stole a pressure washer and a metal warehouse ladder between noon and 2 p.m. July 16 from the east side of a business at 95 E. Braddock Drive. Value was estimated at $800.

• Thieves stole the catalytic converter between 5:15 p.m. July 13 and 6:30 a.m. July 14 from a Chevrolet in a lot on the 1500 block of East Thacker Street. Loss was estimated at $1,200.

• Thieves stole the catalytic converter between July 11 and 14 from a Pontiac on the 1400 block of East Ashland Avenue. Loss was estimated at $500.

• Burglars broke into a shed between 8 p.m. July 13 and 7:30 p.m. July 14 on the 1700 block of White Street and stole a lawn mower and a white plastic 6-foot folding table. Loss was estimated at $550.

• Two men attempted to remove a bike rack from the roof of a Toyota around 2:15 a.m. July 16 in a driveway on the 1800 block of South Illinois Street. The victim woke when his thermal alarm system sounded. He found the two men standing by the car. They fled in a red vehicle that was running and parked in the street. They were not able to finish removing the rack.

• James Patrick Mills, 43, of the 1300 block of Hamilton, Elmhurst, was arrested around 9:33 p.m. at Rivers Casino, 3000 S. River Road, and charged with battery and criminal trespass. His court date is Aug. 8.

• Thieves stole a cellphone valued at $300 between 12:25 and 12:30 p.m. July 5 after the owner left it in a washroom at the Des Plaines Park District Water Park, 2025 E. Miner St.

• Thieves stole $1,000 between 11:45 p.m. July 3 and 12:10 a.m. July 4 out of a wallet in a kitchen at a home on the 1800 block of South Illinois Street.

• Vandals dug two 1-foot holes between 3 p.m. July 3 and 10 a.m. July 7 in a corner of the soccer field at Maine West High School, 1755 S. Wolf Road. Damage was estimated at $100.

• Burglars stole a purse valued at $700 between 11 p.m. June 30 and 9 a.m. July 1 out of a guest room in a hotel at 2950 S. River Road.

• Thieves stole a wallet valued at $60 between 4 and 4:10 p.m. July 7 out of an office cubicle at 2250 E. Devon Ave.

• Thieves stole a catalytic converter valued at $300 between 11 p.m. July 1 and 7 a.m. July 2 from a Chevrolet behind a home on the 1200 block of East Perry Street.

• Thieves stole a purse valued at $81 around 10:20 a.m. July 3 from a shopping cart at Walgreens, 1378 E. Miner Street.

• Vandals broke a 6-foot by 10-foot window around 2 p.m. July 3 at an office building, 1311 E. Rand Road. Damage was estimated at $1,000.

• Burglars stole a GPS in a black leather case June 30 or July 1 out of an unlocked Jeep in a driveway on the 1700 block of Campbell Avenue. Value was estimated at $200.

• Burglars stole a stereo faceplate between 11 p.m. July 1 and 3:55 a.m. July 2 out of an unlocked Toyota in a driveway on the 1000 block of East Greenview Avenue. Value was estimated at $100.

• Thieves stole a laptop computer valued at $2,000 around 4:40 p.m. July 5 out of a shopping cart at Kmart, 1155 E. Oakton St.

• Burglars stole a purse valued at $220 between 11 p.m. July 3 and 7 a.m. July 4 out of an unlocked Jeep in a driveway on the 1800 block of East Stockton Avenue.

• Burglars stole a GPS and loose change between 11 p.m. July 1 and 4:30 a.m. July 2 out of an unlocked Dodge in a driveway on the 800 block of East Hollywood Avenue. Value was estimated at $305. During the same time and on the same block, burglars stole CDs, loose change, candy and beef sticks out of three unlocked vehicles. Value was estimated at $135.

• Thieves stole the catalytic converter between 10 p.m. July 1 and 6 a.m. July 2 from a Chevrolet on the 1500 block of East Walnut Avenue. Value was estimated at $300. Thieves stole a catalytic converter during the same time from a Chevrolet on the 200 block of South Cedar Street. Value was estimated at $300.

• Thieves stole a wall-mounted camera out of a condominium building on the 700 block of South Elmhurst Road between May 25 and June 24. A second camera near an entrance door was turned away from the door. Loss was estimated at $1,000.

Mount Prospect

• Vandals broke into a vacant warehouse between May 30 and June 12 at 1600 Wall St. and broke two exterior doors and door lights, interior drywalls, heating and air conditioning ducts, drop ceiling, office lights, two bathroom mirrors, a toilet, skylight, table, carpeting and concrete floor. Damage was estimated at $5,000.

• A vandal drove a black SUV in circles on a soccer field, baseball field and softball field around 8:45 p.m. July 1 at Prospect High School, 801 W. Kensington Road. Damage was estimated at $3,000.

• Vandals sprayed obscene graffiti between 5 p.m. June 27 and 10:30 a.m. June 28 on the roof of a pump house near the 18th hole at the Mount Prospect Golf Course. Damage was estimated at $2,500.

• Burglars stole a laptop computer valued at $500 between 7 p.m. July 1 and 10 a.m. July 2 out of an unlocked 2005 Mazda Tribute in a driveway on the 400 block of South Wille Street.

• Burglars stole an iPod valued at $200 and a wallet between 8 p.m. July 2 and 7:30 a.m. July 3 out of an unlocked 2005 Toyota Camry in a driveway on the 300 block of South Pine Street. The wallet was found in a recycling bin on the 400 block of South Pine Street.

• Burglars stole sunglasses and an emergency hammer/escape tool between midnight and 7 a.m. June 30 out of an unlocked 2001 Audi A6 in a driveway on the 1700 block of Magnolia Lane. Value was estimated at $330.

• Thieves damaged rocker panels and stole four tires and wheels between 7 p.m. June 27 and 6:45 a.m. June 28 from a 2013 Honda Accord on the 1300 block of Sir Galahad. Loss was estimated at $2,000.

• Four teenage boys were seen on a security video climbing onto the roof at Robert Frost North School, 1805 Aspen Drive. They apparently stepped on a Nicor gas meter on the east side of the building. Part of the meter was broken off the wall. Damage was estimated at $100.

• A woman tried to use two credit cards around 9:07 p.m. June 17 at Walmart, but both cards were declined. She told the cashier she would go to her car and get another card, but she took an iPod and 24-pack of soft drinks and left without paying. Value was estimated at $505.

• Burglars stole $188 between midnight and 7:15 a.m. June 27 out of a 2002 Chevrolet Express van belonging to Tasty Donuts, 1006 S. Elmhurst Road.

• Burglars broke into a 2008 Chevrolet Express van and stole saws and drills between 4 p.m. June 28 and 6 p.m. July 1 on the 2300 block of Lexington Drive. Value was estimated at $2,880.

• Burglars broke into a 2008 Ford van between 5 and 5:20 a.m. June 30 on the 500 block of Enterprise Drive and stole tools. Damage was estimated at $250. Value of the tools was not available.

• Vandals scratched the paint on a 2011 Nissan Maxima, 2004 Toyota Celica, and 2014 Hyundai Sonata between midnight and 9:40 a.m. June 28 on the 900 block of South Maple Street. Damage was estimated at $1,500.

• Vandals bent two roof gutters and broke the control box for an outside electronic sign between June 9 and 16 at Grace Lutheran Church, 1624 E. Euclid Ave. Damage was estimated at $415.

• Thieves stole a lawn mower and snowblower between 5 p.m. June 16 and 7 a.m. June 17 out of an unlocked garage on the 200 block of South Pine Street. Value was estimated at $950.

• Thieves stole a boys' silver bike valued at $175 around 6 p.m. June 16 locked in a bike rack in an apartment lot on the 1700 block of West Palm.

• Two female shoplifters stole food valued at $254 around 10:39 a.m. June 18 at Aldi Food Store, 1000 Mount Prospect Plaza, Rand and Central roads. According to an employee, Chicago area Aldi stores have experienced a spike in thefts. The women were seen taking frozen shrimp, frozen fish and fresh steak. Those foods have also been stolen from other Aldi stores.

• Burglars stole a GPS and survival knife between 8 p.m. June 20 and 9 a.m. June 21 out of a 1997 Ford 350 van on the 1800 block of Oneida Lane. Value was estimated at $310.

• Thieves stole a wallet with cash between noon and 1 p.m. June 22 out of a men's locker at the Mount Prospect Park District Community Center, 1000 W. Central Road. Value was estimated at $280.

Prospect Heights

• Vandals used black paint between 8 p.m. July 1 and 9 a.m. July 2 to spray gang graffiti on a brick wall at a condominium building on the 900 block of East Old Willow Road. Damage was estimated at $50.

• Vandals scratched the tailgate between 4 p.m. July 6 and 10 a.m. July 7 on a 2011 Toyota van on the 1500 block of Quaker.
