Wrong to ignore climate change

And now, do-nothing legislation.

U.S. Rep Randy Hultgren is getting so extreme. His support of HR 4435, as amended, that prohibits the Department of Defense from spending any of its funding on strategic planning related to the impact of climate change seems shortsighted.

Options are more limited and costs tend to be substantially higher when we wait until we have a crisis.

World climate scientists agree the planet is heating up. Sea levels are rising as polar ice is melting - and as we learned in science class, water expands as it gets warmer.

Debate the cause, but the facts are clear. Not doing some strategic planning now and just pushing the issue down the road seems to me to be a serious mistake that just dumps the problem on our children, and our children's children.

Why would we do that? It makes no sense.
