Elgin man faces felony drug charges after police execute search warrant

A 27-year-old Elgin man faces felony drug charges after police found cannabis in his residence while executing a search warrant Friday, police said Saturday in a news release.

Members of the Tactical Response Team executed a search warrant about 7:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Brook Street in response to information that was received of possible drug activity at the location, police said.

During a search of the residence, more than 340 grams (¾ of a pound) of cannabis was seized along with items indicative of drug sales, police said.

The occupant of the residence, Michael A. Cannady, was charged with one count of manufacturing/delivery of cannabis and possession of cannabis. Cannady was scheduled to appear today in Kane County bond court.
