New director for Lombard's Plum Library

A new director has been chosen to lead the Helen M. Plum Memorial Library District in Lombard.

The library's board of trustees selected Barbara Kruser to assume the position on Aug. 18, after longtime director Robert Harris retires.

Kruser has spent her entire career at the Niles Library, where she was hired as a reference librarian in 1989. She worked her way up to assistant director in 2009 and has served as the president of the Niles Chamber of Commerce.

Kruser said in a statement that she prides herself on great staff communication and the creation of two new departments while working at the Niles Library.
