'80s star Taylor Dayne plays Septemberfest

Late '80s and early '90s pop star Taylor Dayne will be the third and final headline act at Schaumburg's Septemberfest during Labor Day weekend.

Dayne will perform on the Miller Lite Music Stage from 8:30 to 10 p.m. on the first night of the festival - Saturday, Aug. 30.

She joins headliners Brian Howe, the lead singer of Bad Company from 1985 to 1995, and Beatles tribute band Liverpool Legends. Howe performs from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, and Liverpool Legends from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 1.

Dayne's opening act on Aug. 30 will be the yet-to-be-named winner of the Daily Herald's Suburban Chicago's Got Talent singing competition, performing from 7 to 8 p.m.

The opening act for Howe on Aug. 31 will be the band Second Time Around playing classic rock from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

As previously announced, the opening act for Liverpool Legends will be Lance Lipinsky & the Lovers, playing rockabilly rock from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sept. 1.

A recent addition to the Septemberfest tradition is the inclusion of a third group each afternoon that will perform on the Miller Lite Music Stage before both the headliners and opening acts.

Only one of the three afternoon bands has been booked so far - Sonic 7, which will play classic rock from 5 to 6 p.m. Aug. 31, before Second Time Around and Brian Howe.

Septemberfest is held on the grounds of Schaumburg's Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center at 101 Schaumburg Court, near the intersection of Schaumburg Road and Summit Drive.

Entry to the grounds and attendance of the musical performances is free. The event will run rain or shine from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 30, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 31, and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Labor Day, Sept. 1.
