Bull riding shows featured at Kane County Fair

Bob Sauber has experienced thrill. He has gone bungee jumping and cliff diving. He has gone snowboarding and skiing down some of the hardest black diamond courses.

But for him, there's nothing quite like the thrill of bull riding.

"It's an adrenaline rush," Sauber said. "I don't think there's any comparison."

And, he added, it's extremely entertaining and fun to watch.

Returning for the eighth time to the Kane County Fair Grandstand is Professional Championship Bull Riding. This year's bull riding shows will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 18, and at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 19, and they will feature some additional country music acts, said Sauber, the founder of the group and a retired bull rider.

For $14 each night, visitors can watch the bull riding show that will feature second-generation cowboy Chance Ratchford of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Directly after the bull riding entertainment, country music star Joe Diffie will perform Friday night, and stars Chris Lane and Drew Baldridge will perform Saturday night.

"For a $14 ticket, the fans are going to get a lot of value out of this show this year," Sauber said. "It's a really great, fun family show."

Tickets to the bull riding shows can be bought in advance at pcbtour.com, and buying them online will waive the fee of general admission to the fair, Sauber said.

The Grandstand will feature two more acts Thursday, July 17, and Sunday, July 20.

Back by popular demand is the Smash 'Em Bash 'Em Demolition Derby Competition, will take place for $10 at 7 p.m. Sunday.

"Demo derbies are the most popular things at county fairs," said Larry Breon, fair president. "People like to see cars crash as long as they aren't their own."

Breon also said fair organizers are trying something new this year. At 7 p.m. Thursday, for the first time, an FMX Freestyle Motocross show will take place for $8.

"We've never had that before, so it'll be good to try (something different)," Breon said.
