Schaumburg police arrest pair outside Woodfield on drug charges

Schaumburg police arrested a Lake County man and a downstate resident on felony drug charges Saturday after authorities say they were caught smoking marijuana outside the Woodfield Mall.

Daniel S. Mason, 25, of Volo, faces charges of unlawful delivery of cannabis, and Christopher M. Rossiter, 19, of Marseilles, is charged with unlawful possession of cannabis following the arrests.

According to police, Woodfield security called officers to the mall about 1:40 p.m. Saturday after detecting an odor of marijuana coming from a vehicle in which Mason and Rossiter were sitting.

Mason fled on foot prior to police arriving, but was taken into custody a short time later, according to the Schaumburg Police Department.

Police say a subsequent investigation revealed Mason and Rossiter met in the mall parking lot, where Mason sold approximately one-half pound of marijuana to Rossiter in exchange for $1,000 cash.

Recovered from the scene were approximately 250 grams of suspected cannabis, approximately 74 grams of a substance suspected to be THC wax, approximately $1,000 cash, and various items of drug paraphernalia, police said.
