Rolling Meadows starts talking about street improvements

The Rolling Meadows City Council will begin discussions on how to fund improvements of the city's streets when aldermen meet as a committee of the whole at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at city hall, 3600 Kirchoff Road.

The discussion will continue at the August committee-of-the-whole meeting, as officials consider measures that include discontinuing the city's vehicle sticker fees. However, officials would then have determine how to recoup the $450,000 in net revenues the fees produce.

Spending for local street improvements has decreased in the city in recent years. Officials have indicated they would like to find ways to increase the amount spent now that the city's economy is improving.
