• Someone tried to break into a storage garage on the 1300 block of Mitchell Road near Aurora between 10 p.m. July 8 and 9 a.m. Wednesday. About $1,000 damage was caused to the garage's door.

• Someone broke a window on a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria on the 38W400 block of McDonald Road near South Elgin between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. Thursday. Damage was estimated at $300.

• Mark A. Rhodes, 28, of the 1300 block of Fifth Avenue, Aurora, was charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, aggravated resisting arrest, and battery after authorities were called to the 1300 block of Fifth at about 3:37 p.m. June 29 for a report that Rhodes struck a man during a card game, according to a sheriff's report. Rhodes locked himself in a bathroom and scuffled with officers, the report said.

• A Beretta PX-4 Storm handgun was reported stolen July 7 from a residence on the 600 block of Hawthorne Avenue near Aurora, according to a sheriff's report. The gun, which was purchased for $484, was last seen May 21, the report said.
