Huntley man charged with punching cop after Dave Matthews concert

A Huntley man has been charged with punching a Chicago police officer after a Dave Matthews concert Friday night at Northerly Island.

According to police, Gerald Chverchko, 42, of the 10900 block of Mayfield Lane, was seen by officers walking out into traffic on the 1300 block of South Lynn White Drive about 11:50 p.m. Friday.

Officers instructed Chverchko several times to get off the road because he was placing himself in danger and impeding the flow of traffic, a news release states, but the Huntley man refused.

When an officer attempted to escort Chverchko to the sidewalk, police say he punched the officer with a closed fist. Officers then arrested him.

Chverchko is charged with aggravated battery of a police officer and resisting a police officer. He appeared in bond court over the weekend and was ordered held on $10,000 bail.
