Cal Bowling received some early run support and turned in a solid pitching performance as the host Schaumburg Boomers captured a 5-2 victory over the Joliet Slammers in Frontier League action Thursday night.

The Boomers rang up all 5 of their runs in the bottom of the second to knock out Slammers starter Greg Billo. With the bases loaded, Ryan McChesney coaxed a walk to force home the first run. Brian McConkey crossed the plate on a wild pitch, and Jordan Dean delivered a double with the bases loaded. Justin Vasquez and Tyler Sciacca (3 hits) also drove home runs and Mark Nelson had a pair of hits. Bowling worked 8 innings and allowed 2 runs. He benefitted from 3 double plays. Dexter Price worked the ninth for the save.

The Boomers host the Normal CornBelters today at 6:30 p.m. when they send Eddie Cody against Chris Carmain.
