Bartlett teen hospitalized, Chicago man charged with aggravated battery

A Chicago man faces a felony charge after Bartlett police said he delivered a controlled substance to a 13-year-old boy.

Police and Bartlett Fire Protection District paramedics were called to a single-family home on the 600 block of Biltmore Drive on a report of the boy experiencing a medical emergency about 9 p.m. June 26, according to a news release.

The boy is still hospitalized in stable condition, the news release stated.

Gilberto L. Herrera, 19, of the 5000 block of West 55th Street, Chicago, was charged with aggravated battery June 30.

Police are not yet releasing the kind of controlled substance he is alleged to have delivered to the boy.

A Cook County judge set his bail at $25,000.

Herrera is due back in court on Aug. 6.
