Three held in Vernon Hills home, vehicle burglaries, police say

Three men are being held in connection with a series of burglaries last week to homes and vehicles in Vernon Hills, police said Wednesday.

Vernon Hills police in a news release said three suspects were in custody involving eight reported burglaries between 2 and 4 a.m. June 26, in the Centennial Crossing, Sanctuary Point and Writer Estates subdivisions.

Two of the suspects were taken into custody Tuesday in North Chicago. A third man already was in custody at the Highland Park police department on another matter, police said.

All three were linked to the Vernon Hills burglaries, but their identities were being withheld pending charges. Details of how they were caught were not released.

Investigators from Vernon Hills worked with several other law enforcement agencies. All three suspects were being held in Highland Park, according to the release.

Six of the burglary reports were from the 300 blocks of LaSalle Street and Ranney Avenue in Centennial Crossing. The other two neighborhoods are about a mile away on the south side of the village.
