Mount Prospect man faces $150,000 bond on DUI charge

A Cook County judge on Wednesday ordered a Mount Prospect man charged with DUI to be held on a $150,000 bond, prosecutors said.

Police arrested Lorenzo Gomez, of the 600 block of W. Dempster St., about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday after they observed him crossing the solid yellow median and obstructing traffic on Elmhurst Road, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney David Shin.

According to officers, Gomez had a strong odor of alcohol, slurred his speech, was unsteady on his feet and failed field sobriety tests, Shin said, adding that a portable breath test placed Gomez' blood alcohol level above the .08 limit.

Gomez' background includes 1998 convictions for DUI and reckless driving, and for domestic battery, said Shin. He also has a DUI conviction from 1999, Shin said.

Additionally, Gomez uses several different names, prosecutors said.

He next appears in court on July 25.
