Lightning strike suspected in Naperville house fire

A lightning strike may have sparked a fire that caused roughly $75,000 damage Monday night to a house in Naperville.

Firefighters said they were called around 9:45 p.m. and arrived to find a fire in the attic of the house on the 3600 block of Schillinger Court. The fire was brought under control within minutes, they said, and largely was confined to the attic.

No injuries were reported.

An inspector from the city's Transportation, Engineering and Development department said the building will be uninhabitable until repairs can be made.

Elsewhere in Naperville, firefighters said two houses were damaged Monday by trees knocked down by heavy winds. One of those houses, at 305 Royce Woods, will be uninhabitable until repairs can be made.
