Man arrested on charges of indecency at Palatine pool

A Glenview man who has three prior convictions for public indecency was arrested after he was accused of touching himself at a swimming pool in Palatine last weekend.

Rick M. Selling, 67, of the 0-100 block of Ardmore Avenue, voluntarily came to the Palatine police station on Wednesday and was charged with felony public indecency, police said in a news release.

Palatine police received a report at 3:20 p.m. on Sunday that a man was sitting in a lounge chair touching himself while watching patrons at the Palatine Aquatic Center, 340 E. Palatine Road. The man left the pool before officers arrived, but an employee at the aquatic center saw his license plate as he drove away, police said.

Selling was later identified by witnesses in a photo lineup. Police said the charges against Selling were upgraded to a felony because of his three previous convictions for similar acts.

Selling appeared in bond court at the Rolling Meadows courthouse on Thursday and was ordered held on $60,000 bail. His next court date is set for July 17.
