Glen Ellyn approves funding for manhole work

Rehab work will begin in July on roughly 105 sanitary sewer manholes in Glen Ellyn at a cost of $300,000.

The village board this week awarded a contract for the work to KIM Construction Company.

Officials said the work will include frame replacement and adjustment as well as sealing.

KIM Construction submitted the lowest bid for $317,150, but Public Works Director Julius Hansen said the village sought just $300,000 because officials believe they can save money by using public works employees to do some of the work.
