Waukegan police investigate murder
Waukegan police are investigating the murder of a 24-year-old man Thursday night.
Police in a brief news release said they responded about 10:30 p.m. to the 2400 block of Dugdale Road for an unrelated call when they heard gunshots. A vehicle sped from the area and was pursued by officers, police said.
The vehicle crashed, according to the release, and an occupant was apprehended.
The murder victim, Darniel Gordon of Waukegan, subsequently was located on the 2500 block of Dugdale Road, police said.
Details about the crash, the person who was apprehended, or the how Gordon was killed were not released.
The department's Gang Intelligence Unit will continue the investigation.
