Kids, families invited to safety expo Saturday in Algonquin

Children and families from McHenry and Kane counties are invited to attend a free Children's Safety Expo on Saturday, June 28, from 9 a.m. to noon at Heineman Middle School, 725 Academic Drive, Algonquin.

State Rep. Mike Tryon, a Republican from Crystal Lake is partnering with Sen. Karen McConnaughay, a Republican from St. Charles for the event.

"This expo promises to be a lot of fun for kids of all ages," said Tryon. "In addition to the almost 50 booths at the event, children and their families can enjoy the Traveling World of Reptiles Show at 9:15 a.m. and a Touch-a-Truck display, featuring squad cars, dump trucks, a boom truck, ambulance, fire truck and more."

The Algonquin Academy of Dance and Kaya Martial Arts will also be doing live demonstrations.

There is no cost for admission, and there will be free refreshments and giveaways throughout the morning.

In addition to the booths and interactive exhibits, information and other activities will be available about: fingerprinting, I-Cash, bicycle safety, cyberbullying, Internet safety, fire safety, nutrition, day care, tutoring, after-school activities, adoption, and injury prevention.
