Drop-In for fun at Heritage Farm

The Schaumburg Park District will make history come alive at the Heritage Farm this summer!

Visitors will experience life on the farm during Drop-In Days at the Heritage Farm at Spring Valley, 201 S. Plum Grove Road.

Drop-in program days will be the second Tuesday and the third Thursday of each month. Tuesday programs start at 11 a.m. Thursday programs start at 10 a.m.

• July 8 - The Farm Before the Farm: Through the help of pictures from our collection, take a walk with farm staff and learn what it was like here before Spring Valley.

• July 17 - Better with Butter: After helping the house frau churn butter, make some of your very own! Crackers will be on hand for butter tasting.

• Aug. 12 - Boeger Who?: Find out about Spring Valley's first farm family. Through the help of the farm's collections learn who they were, where they came from and how they were significant to the history of Schaumburg.

• Aug. 21 - Sundae School: Help make ice cream from scratch! After you have churned, make your own sundae and enjoy this cool summer treat.

"Each day is different, there is never the same activity twice!" said Patty Kennedy, Heritage Farm program coordinator. "Drop-In Days are filled with activities and opportunities to try new things at Heritage Farm that participants have never gotten the chance to do before."

Cost is $2 per person. Tuesday programs appropriate for 12 years and older. Thursday programs appropriate for 3 years and older.
