Martin, Cougars steal win from Timber Rattlers

Troy Martin stole 5 bases to set a club record, and the Kane County Cougars soared to a 9-3 victory over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in Midwest League action at at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva on Tuesday night.

Martin, who was 2-for-3, eclipsed the mark of Michael Richard, who stole 4 bases in 2008.

Yasiel Balaguert and Jeimer Candelario of the Cougars (4-1, 49-26) delivered RBI doubles,

Paul Blackburn (6-2) picked up the win, working 5 innings and allowing 3 runs. Reliever Michael Wagner tossed 3 shutout innings with 4 strikeouts and lefty Michael Heesch struck out the side in the ninth.

The series continues today at noon when the Cougars send Tyler Skulina (4-3, 2.70 ERA) against Tristan Archer (2-2, 3.98).
