Rolling Meadows, Des Plaines growing, survey says

Rolling Meadows ranked fifth and Des Plaines 10th on a list of the fastest-growing cities in Illinois, according to a financial advice website called nerdwallet.com.

Rolling Meadows experienced an 8.4 percent increase in the working-age population between 2009 and 2012. It also had a 4.2 percent growth in the percentage of employed residents, but a 4.6 percent decline in median income.

Des Plaines saw a 6.4 percent increase in working-age population and a 5 percent rise in employed residents. Median income dropped 11.2 percent.

Glen Ellyn was ninth with a 2.4 percent increase in population, 4.5 percent hike in percentage employed and 5.2 percent increase in median income.
